Valentina Peleggi
Valentina Peleggi is Music Director of the Richmond Symphony (Virginia,
USA) since 2020. She has conducted leading orchestras including the London
Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, BBC National Orchestra
of Wales, and Orchestra Nazionale della RAI. Deeply committed to opera, she
has led productions of Semiramide, Le Comte Ory, Rigoletto, Carmen, and La Bohème across Europe and South
America. Her acclaimed recording of a cappella works by Villa Lobos was
released by Naxos in 2021. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in
London, she has worked with Bruno Campanella and Daniele Gatti. From 2005 to
2015 she was the Principal Conductor and Music Director of the University
Choir in Florence and remains their Honorary Conductor, receiving a special
award from the Government in 2011 in recognition of her work there.
