Le Nozze di Figaro
Opera North, Leeds
31/01/2026

"Opera North’s orchestra is in wonderful form, and conductor Valentina Peleggi paces the flow unerringly, allowing the moments of pathos to shine out amid all the breakneck comic nonsense"

(The Telegraph, Ivan Hewett)

"They are all given sensitive and effective support in Valentina Peleggi’s conducting – she knows how to speed things along when appropriate but also gives time for the slower tempi to create their magic; the ensembles were beautifully balanced, and the Act Two finale wonderfully paced."

(Theartsdesk.com, Robert Beale)

"Valentina Peleggi conducted Mozart’s glorious music with real sensitivity to the singers’ phrasing and the contrasting moods of the work, with a sparkling overture and tender evocation of the solemn moments – as ever, Opera North’s orchestra impresses in every section."

(MusicOMH, Melanie Eskenazi)

Il barbiere di Siviglia
Seattle Opera
05/05/2024

"Sul podio, Valentina Peleggi ha diretto l’orchestra non solo con precisione e maestria, ma anche con profondità espressiva, in particolare per quanto riguarda la resa timbrica e dinamica."

(Viviana Coppo, OperaClick)

"Assisted by the infectious melodies, conductor Valentina Peleggi keeps the singers’ voices front and center."

(Gemma Alexander, Seattle Times)

"Valentina Peleggi, who displayed Florentine subtlety in her lively tempi, intuitive phrasing, and overall command of the orchestra. Starting with a spirited overture, she maintained an appropriately Italianate character in each aria and ensemble and brought out the absolute best from the orchestra, all the way to the end."

(Erica Miner, LA Opus)

"From the very first moment under Valentina Peleggi’s direction in her Seattle Opera debut, she marks every note, every interval… because of the careful shading and attention paid to every note… similar attention was paid to the text… "

(Keith Dorwick, British Theatre Guide)
